Soure is a Portuguese village in the District of Coimbra, in the Center region and sub-region of Baixo Mondego, capital of a municipality with 270 km2 and with a population of 20 thousand inhabitants.
Geographically the Municipality of Soure has two areas with very different characteristics:
• The Serrana area, which is part of the Sicó sub-region, consists of the parishes of Tapéus, Degracias and Pombalinho. The production of quality cheese remains one of the characteristic activities. Also noteworthy is the operation of limestone extraction units and an industrial unit for roasting dried fruits.
• The rest of the municipality, which is flatter, dominated by the alluvial basins of the Anços, Arunca and Pranto rivers, with greater soil richness and a greater proximity to the main communication axes of the region and the country, naturally, has presented a higher index of development, based on a diversified framework of activities at the sectoral level.
